Shop
Two floors, one rare book cabinet, and a great deal of chocolate
Everything from paperback mysteries to signed, leather-bound books — plus new titles and gifts you can order without feeding the Empire.
In the shop
Used, Rare & Out-of-Print
Our two floors hold a fascinating collection of used, rare and out-of-print books — a wide selection of hardcover and paperback fiction and non-fiction, a rare and collectible cabinet, and sidelines like Blind Date Books, postcards and buttons.
Looking for something specific? Call us at (402) 475-8663 and we'll check our stock, add it to our four-month Request List, or put it on the hold shelf for you.
Outside the door you'll find the Bargain Cabinet — yellow $5 stickers that fade to orange $3, then to red $1 — and our daily FREE Bins.
New Books
The Rebel Alliance to the Empire of Amazon
We offer new books through our partnership with Bookshop.org, which supports independent booksellers with brick-and-mortar shops. We earn a commission on books bought through our link, and 10% of every sale goes into a pool shared by all member independent bookstores.
Bookshop.org handles your sale and ships your order directly to you — with a thank you message from our shop enclosed. We keep adding titles and building new lists on our page.
Gifts for Book Lovers
Puzzles, tarot, candles, chocolate — and socks
An ever-changing inventory of literary gifts: puzzles, games, stickers, magnets, tarot decks, candles, NovelTeas, notecard sets, bookish socks, and our own artisanal chocolate bars.
Book Bag Care Packages
Send books like you'd send flowers. Basic Editions $30–$35, Deluxe $50, and $22 Kids' bags with a handwritten note from our cats.
Cats, Books, Life Is Good Calendars
Our annual 13-month calendar of bookish quotes and famous shop cats — usually in stock by Thanksgiving.
Gift certificates are available for any amount, never expire, and are good on all books and merchandise. They're written by hand — and certificates of $25 or more come in a letterpressed sleeve of handmade paper embedded with wildflower seeds, which you can plant in a sunny spot. Our original artwork by Arden Ellen Nixon is also available on stickers, pins, apparel and home goods through our TeePublic shop.
